About

Sol Ortega is the Coalitions Director at the Chamber of Progress, where she leads national stakeholder engagement and grasstops coalition-building to support progressive tech policy. She brings extensive experience in public engagement and legislative strategy, most recently serving as Public Engagement Advisor at NASA, where she helped expand public awareness and participation in agency priorities.

Before NASA, Sol was a Senior Advisor for Public Engagement at the White House, where she led Latino stakeholder outreach and coordinated high-profile engagement around the administration’s policy agenda. She previously worked on Capitol Hill for five years, including as Deputy Director of Engagement for Senate Democratic Leader Charles E. Schumer, where she served as a liaison to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and national advocacy groups. She also worked in the House for Congressman Darren Soto and later served as Deputy Director for Latino Engagement at Building Back Together.

Sol was born in Lima, Peru and raised in Kissimmee, Florida. She is a proud first-generation college graduate with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of Florida. She is an alumna of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI), and currently lives in Washington, D.C.
