TICKET Act Brings Transparency and Lower Costs to Fans

Ticket Industry Suffers from Higher Prices and Excessive Fees

Apr 30, 2025

The House of Representatives passed the TICKET Act today with strong bipartisan support to bring transparency to the ticketing industry. Sponsored by Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), the bill passed the House 409-15 and requires sellers to display the total price of a ticket – including fees – in advertisements, marketing, and promotional material.

“Price transparency is key to increasing competition and lowering costs for fans,” said Todd O’Boyle, Vice President of Technology Policy at Chamber of Progress. “For too long, platforms like Ticketmaster have wielded monopoly power and imposed higher prices and excessive fees. The TICKET Act levels the playing field and gives fans more information and power to save on their purchase.”

Initially introduced in June 2023, the TICKET Act has drawn support from consumer advocacy groups including the National Consumers League.
