Tech, local businesses urge governor to veto SB 205
On Tuesday at 12PM MT, a coalition of tech and local businesses will hold a virtual press conference urging Governor Jared Polis to veto artificial intelligence legislation (SB 205) headed for the governor’s desk. The virtual event includes speakers from Chamber of Progress, local small businesses including Thumper.ai and Storyvine, and the AI startup Minerva.
Today, Chamber of Progress sent a veto letter to Governor Polis highlighting how SB 205 threatens to stifle innovation in Colorado and repress competition while failing to achieve its goal of protecting consumers.

“This bill wraps up Colorado’s small tech startups in enough red tape that they’ll be discouraged from trying new approaches to AI,” said Chamber of Progress State and Local Director Kouri Marshall. “Those local businesses that continue pursuing AI innovation in Colorado will face requirements forcing the disclosure of essential business intelligence to competitors and customers. Altogether, SB 205 threatens to backfire on Colorado consumers and torpedo the state’s tech economy.”
Speakers joining for Tuesday’s press conference include:
- Kouri Marshall, State and Local Public Policy Director, Chamber of Progress
- Dr. Kelly Kinnebrew, Co-Founder, Minerva
- Logan Cerkovnik, Founder, Thumper.ai
- Kyle Shannon, Founder, Storyvine
