Walz’s Tech Record Makes for a Strong VP Pick

MN Gov has embraced investments in workforce training, tech

Aug 6, 2024

Reporting indicates today that Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate for the 2024 election. During his six years in the governor’s mansion, Walz made Minnesota a national leader in innovative medical technology and supported major investments in workforce training and semiconductor manufacturing. Walz also vetoed legislation that would have made rideshare services unaffordable for Minnesotans, and later signed compromise legislation allowing continued rideshare operation in the state.

“It’s a ticket that signals a new chapter for Democrats’ approach to tech,” said Chamber of Progress CEO Adam Kovacevich. “I think both the Vice President and Governor Walz have taken a common sense approach to tech: making investments, getting workers ready for tech jobs, and recognizing how tech services help people.”
