Since Truth Social’s launch, the former President has gone quiet on 230
On Thursday, Chamber of Progress sent a letter to President Donald Trump’s campaign team, urging the candidate to reveal his stance on Section 230. The letter notes that while Trump was vocally opposed to Section 230 during his candidacy, he has since launched a social media platform that incorporates Section 230 in its user agreement. The letter also notes that the former president has used Section 230 to defend himself in court against defamation charges.

“Section 230 is the legal bedrock for online speech,” said Chamber of Progress CEO Adam Kovacevich. “People deserve to know whether Trump still plans to repeal the law that’s enabled online platforms to host user posts, or whether he plans to rewrite the rules for speech online. Republicans often rail against Section 230, but it’s a key tool in enabling free expression online.”
